Beer Review – Anchor Steam Beer

A true American original. Anchor Steam was craft brewing before craftbrewing was cool. It is made in San Francisco, which should not be held against it. The company is a true American success story.

As for the beer, its alright. I mean, its not bad at all, but it confusing. It has a light, slightly amber color, but not sexy in appearance at all. I poureditfrom the bottle into a fluted mug and there was really no head to speak of, although I have heard it foams up nicely off the tap. There really was nothing on the nose and again at this point I would call the beer unremarkable.

It takes ok. Just ok. I can taste the hops and the malt, but neither are dominant. Not a bad beer, but not a good bad beer either. An unremarkable beer for sure, but one which claims it place proudly in the history of American craft beer.
