Coming together over craft beer.

Just to Drink a Beer

image

When I decided to start blogging and learn more about beer it came from a genuine interest in craft beer and the roll beer plays in the fabric of American culture.  It seemed very natural to begin reviewing beers as I began creating content.  Reviewing beer, and learning how to appreciate beer, are cool things for the beer enthusiast, but that alone is not what interests me. But, it is an easy way to keep your blog current and the ‘research’ is awesome.

The only problem I have is that I have been drinking really good beer very often and really thinking hard about every sip. Sometimes, that can quite squarely miss the point of beer. Beer is not wine, it’s identity is not based on the food pairing or the region the hops were grown in, although both of those can certainly influence the drinking experience. No, beer an its roots and its essence is about drinking, relaxing, and pulling people together. So tonight, I didn’t take notes or remember to breath through my nose when taking a draw. Tonight I cued up an old episode of Fringe, opened a Dogfish Head Continuously Hopped 60 Minute IPA, and just drank it. And it was good and refreshing.

I think it is extremely important for anyone, regardless of your passion, palette, or profession, to relax and have a beer sometime. You will be better for it.
