Coming together over craft beer.
For more years than I care to think about, I drank nothing but macro-factory beers. I didn’t really appreciate the beverage for its many wonders and creative inspirations, instead I just drank the cheap stuff. Occasionally I would come across something different I really liked, but I didn’t know why. A few years back this started to shift a little towards at least acknowledging, if notyet understanding, the interesting qualities of craft beer.
Then in the Summer of 2012 I went on a beer tour in Philly. We were served all kinds of interesting stuff. I realized suddenly how much I didn’t know (What’s a Firkin????) and just how exciting the beer world could be. There was a revolution going on, and I was oblivious to it. Three things happened after that trip:
1.) I Developed my first ‘brewery crush’, Yards Brewing Company.
2.) At the direction of the head beer guy at Brau Haus Schmits, I watched How Beer Saved the World.
3.) Craft beer became a passion, and I was eager to learn as much as possible.
That fall I started the blog under a different name, and ultimately if became the Cambridge Park Beer Club blog you see here today. Something I don’t do, yet anyway, is brew my own beer. I will get there, but one thing at a time. For now I am spending my free time learning, reading, tasting, and experience the amazing and ever changing world of craft beer. I write about it to develop a stronger ability to communicate about beer as well as to share with other craft beer lovers.
